Early cases of AIDS were also found in Manipur. There after it became rampant and started spreading across the country. Government Of India instituted agencies to control this deadly disease but they mainly worked amongst the lower strata of society. It was at this stage that Dr.R.K.Verma [Founder/President of AIDS Control Foundation] came forward with the idea to establish “AIDS Control Foundation” to create awareness about HIV/AIDS among the educated section of the people. Along with a team of dedicated doctors and medical volunteers he carried out a relentless campaign making people aware of this disease.
